Disclosure
This page explains where our trial information comes from, what matching means, and important limitations to keep in mind when using EqualTrialMatch.
Last updated: 2025-12-12
Trial information is primarily derived from public registries. Always confirm the latest details with the registry entry and the study team.
If you connect Epic MyChart, you authenticate on Epic’s pages and explicitly consent to what gets imported for matching.
EqualTrialMatch is an informational tool. Trial eligibility and enrollment are decided by study teams—not by us.
At a glance
EqualTrialMatch helps you search and organize clinical trial listings and optionally improves matching using a consent-based health snapshot.
What we do
- Index and present public clinical trial listings.
- Let you filter and save trials for later.
- Offer TrialMatch+ ranking signals based on your preferences and (optional) health snapshot.
What we don’t do
- We don’t diagnose or provide medical advice.
- We don’t guarantee eligibility or enrollment.
- We don’t enroll you—study teams do.
Data sources
Trial details can change quickly. Registry data is helpful, but not always real-time.
EqualTrialMatch primarily relies on public trial registries and surfaces links back to the registry entry when available. For many trials, that registry is ClinicalTrials.gov .
Because registry updates and real-world recruitment can drift, always verify:
- Recruitment status (Recruiting / Not yet recruiting / Active, not recruiting)
- Locations and contact info
- Full inclusion/exclusion criteria
Matching and ranking
TrialMatch+ is designed to prioritize results, not to determine eligibility.
TrialMatch+ uses a combination of your search preferences and (if you opt in) imported health snapshot signals to improve relevance. This may include:
- Condition/keyword alignment with trial descriptions
- Location practicality (ZIP + radius)
- Status filters (e.g., Recruiting)
- High-level clinical context (e.g., meds, allergies, procedures) when available
Important: TrialMatch+ can produce false positives or miss trials due to incomplete registry text, complex criteria, or site-specific screening practices.
Third parties (Epic / MyChart and registries)
Some parts of the experience rely on third-party services that you control via consent.
If you connect Epic MyChart, authentication occurs on Epic’s secure pages using secure OAuth. EqualTrialMatch does not see your MyChart password.
If you do not connect MyChart, you can still use EqualTrialMatch with preferences and manual inputs.
Epic, MyChart, and ClinicalTrials.gov are trademarks of their respective owners. Any mention is for descriptive purposes.
Limitations and responsibility
Using EqualTrialMatch comes with a few important limitations to understand.
EqualTrialMatch is not a healthcare provider and does not provide medical advice. It is an informational tool intended to help you discover and organize trial options.
Final eligibility and enrollment decisions are made by study teams based on full criteria and screening protocols.
If something appears inconsistent (e.g., a “Recruiting” trial that isn’t recruiting), please treat the registry and the study team as authoritative.
